Program Educational Objectives

Graduates of the METU Urban Policy Planning and Local Governments PhD Program;

  • Work mostly as policy analysts and advisors at local government and urban policy related state institutions such as ministries, governorships and development agencies.     
  • Be charged at above mentioned institutions as managers in the short run (approximately in 3-5 years).
  • Be positioned as researcher and policy analyst at international public institutions, non-governmental organizations, political parties, think tanks, mass organizations (chambers) and consultancy corporations in the market and in the short run be positioned as coordinator in these institutions.  
  • Be owner and employer at institutions that serves for consultancy and policy analyses within the mentioned issues in the market.   
  • Mostly employed as academic staff in national and international academic institutions.
  • Be employed as advisors or managers steering policy making in key positions in public or private sector, political parties and non-governmental organizations.
