Program Outcomes

Upon graduation, alumni of the English Language Teaching Ph.D. program should be able to (in the field of English Language Teaching):

  1. synthesize, critically assess, and improve theoretical and practical findings on contemporary research.
  2. evaluate the existing research methods and techniques and carry out research autonomously in order to make contributions to the field.
  3. carry out studies with a scientific point of view in order to meet the educational needs in national and international contexts.
  4. demonstrate the necessary skills to conduct independent research with scientific research methods and share research findings at academic meetings or other settings both orally and in written form.
  5. convey contemporary theories and practices to pre/in service teachers, administrators and other stakeholders.
  6. suggest solutions to educational problems by investigating instructional processes in different contexts and with critical points of view.
  7. use theoretical and practical knowledge on social, cultural and individual varilables of language learning to improve the practices of national English language teaching and learning.
  8. analyze the theories and applications in English as a second or foreign language acquisition or applied linguistics and relate them to English language teaching and learning.
  9. with an innovative perspective conduct research on the latest instructional developments.
  10. carry out studies to suggest instructional models, policies and methods to meet the local and national instructional needs.
