Program Educational Objectives

  • To train students on the current theories and studies in developmental psychology,  on the developmental research and data analyses methods, so that they would follow ethical principles and represent the developmental psychology successfully in academic area.
  • To train students so that by the time they complete their PhD training, they would have formed a research program of their own and had enough experience to make research grant applications to different funding agencies.
  • To train students so that they are knowledgeable about the environmental and biological factors that underlie the optimal development of an individual from conception to death.  Based on these research findings they can develop intervention programs or suggest new social policies or provide counseling to improve existing policies.  Also they would be able to conduct studies to evaluate the existing programs and social policies.
  • Graduates of this program should be able to get academic positions at prominent national and international universities, as faculty members and/or researchers.
