Program Outcomes

The graduates of the Area Studies PhD Program;

1. demonstrate leadership in the solution of issues that require an interdisciplinary approach,
2. use their knowledge and skills for understanding global problems and making contribution to the solution of these problems,
3. improve existing models, theories and methods of Area Studies by advanced scientific methodological applications,
4. suggest and develop new approaches, perspectives and policies on Turkey’s multi-dimensional relations with various regions of the world,
5. use research methods, especially field research and qualitative research methods, in an advanced level,
6. have the skills to efficiently conceptualize, apply, analyze, synthetize and evaluate information gathered from various sources,
7. have English proficiency enough for defending their original ideas with regard to their study subject and having effective communication,
8. have the skills to understand people with different cultures, religions and life styles, to communicate and work in cooperation with them.
